The Harvest Jeremiah 8:18-8:22
TEXT: (NKJV) “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved!”
I. THIS SCRIPTURE SIGNIFIES THAT THE HARVEST IS VERY IMPORTANT TO GOD
John 4:35-36 (NKJV) Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.”
II. THIS SCRIPTURE IMPLIES THAT THE TIME FOR HARVEST WILL CERTAINLY COME TO AN END
“The harvest is past….”
John 9:4 (NKJV) I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
III. THIS SCRIPTURE AMPLIFIES THE FACT THAT THE HARVEST IS DEPENDENT UPON GOD’S TIME TABLE-“The harvest is past, the summer is ended,
2 Peter 3:8-9 (NKJV) But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Acts 17:30-31 (NKJV) Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”
IV. THIS SCRIPTURE IDENTIFIES THE NUMBER OF THE UN-HARVESTED
“The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved!”
Many do not want to hear it but time is limited. God says evangelize while there is opportunity for one day the door will close. Those who do not come in will be lost. Think of ways, pray for ways, look for ways to get the gospel to those who need to hear. Remember the Lord requires only that you give the message—you do not have to make the one receive the Lord for that is his choice. Are you doing that? When was the last time you shared your faith?
